Another N?????

Wife's cousin is married to a guy with a scrap business. He also happens to like tractors! He will not scrap a tractor out unless it has no hope. Ran into him at the NAPA store the other day and ask if he had found any ford N's. He said he picked up a non runner at auction. Went to look at it this morning and found that it's a front mount 8N. Front tires are near new and all four rims look good. has a 12 volt conversion. Steering gear seems to be OK and all the lower 3 point parts are there. Hood has some dings that can be knocked out but seems sound, fenders are ruff. Carb, starter and alternator are all there. He's going to let me have it for what he paid....150. The block is cracked so I guess it will be a parts trator.

Front tires would cost more than that. So would the rear rims.
Blocks aren't that hard to come by if you wanted to make it run,
but you could get way more than that parting it out.

You see lots of people on the E-bay parting out tractors.
This is great if you looking for something to restore one, beats
letting the classic iron rust away to nothing.
Let me know if you have the tensioner bracket for the
generator I am looking for one willing to purchase one if you
have it.
Née it for my 9N

I may have a genny bracker, gotta look for it from when I converted to 12 volt. If I do it's from an 8N. Let me know if that will work and I will see if I can find it.

I wasn't planning on selling parts. I was thinking parts tractor for my 2 running working N's.

BOth of mine could use the lift gone through. Problem is that I can't afford to have em down in the summer and I don't have anyplace heated to work in the winter. Figure I can pull the lift from the "new one" and go through it then just pop the lift out of the worse runner and then rebuild that one and do the other swap. Plus I'll have a spare carb, dizzy and other parts if needed. Heck I got a barn to store the stuff in.

As far as the fron tires are concerned these are the wide ones. I think they look better than the others but I'm not sure what to do. I haven't run my N I got the 1st of the month enough to know if I like the wide tires yet. If I do like em while working I'll swap out the narrow ones on my 1st 8N. Those will be for sale if I do. They were new last year.

Having worked on quite a few N's I despise those 19" skinny motorcycle front tires,,, 16" are more forgiving if you hit a rock/log/hole are what ever,,, you have less of a chance of breaking a arm,,, 19' will take the wheel and spin it in a instant... Even backing up the tractor the 19's take over to aggressive for me...

I need the generator tensioning bracket for my 9N six volt front
mount distributor.
I have none of the brackets or parts for it.
Not sure if the 8N and 9N are different?

es, they are different.

Old, i got a good front mount engine if you are interested. It came out of a stationay engine that ran a cider press. I am in Md 21797. I'd sell it pretty cheap, and you could have a good working 8N. Keith

Keep in touch with that guy! Even the "too far gone"
tractors are worth more in parts than they are as
scrap.

Kieth I may consider putting it into running condition sometime in the future but I'm not sure. Besides shipping to MN would be a deal killer unless you are considering paying to take it off your hands.....
