Another question about plug color

I've always thought that on these older engines, there should be some color on the plugs, light tan being best (I have a Ford 640, 1955). Recently, after doing both carb and ignition work, I put in new plugs. These have now been run several hours. I pulled them today to take a look, and they are snow white. It seems to be running okay, but is that white color a sign of running too lean? Help and thanks.
