Good afternoon, Old560: Reminds me of when I had a bicycle paper route, then later rode a motor scooter a lot. Lots of gravel roads in our subdivision, lots of intersections with stop signs. When I would stop, I would sometimes look down at the gravel road, and often found a tool or junk stuff. Started my collection of Yankee push drills that way!

Good one! I call those tool finds road kill. My toolbox is full of them. Snap-on gets dropped off of service trucks a lot. The good mechanics have good tools.

i found this caliper almost 40 years ago on a gravel road. should be safe to post pic. now. lol.

Used to work near a big box store in Shakopee, MN. we'd jog during lunch and sometimes our route would go by the store. Half the time would find loose change in the street just after the parking lot exit. One day found a lineman's big screwdriver. Probably looked funny jogging 3 miles carrying that thing!

Years ago I found a whole tool box full of tools strewn on the road. Gathered them up and tried to find out who lost them. Even ran a found ad in the newspaper but never did get any replies.

I found a 1/2 chain, that is long enough to be too heavy for me to want to use any more. A hook nose pliers in an intersection. An adjustable jaw wrench on the shoulder of a state highway. I have even found a wrench in the road that I lost and a guy walking past my house returned another that I had lost. My neighbor lost a sheet rock saw in front of my driveway. I had to buy my own later. I am torn between leaving tools where I found them so that the owner can find them. After all, they weren't mine anyway. I found a bracket in the road that I think was for a bike/luggage rack. I put it on the center line of the road, where people should see it and not run over it. It was gone when I came home.

t probably went into someone's tire.

I found a whole spool of solid copper wire about 10 years ago. Not a bit of identification on the spool. I used a little bit of it over the years and finally took it to the scrap yard a couple of years ago. I got more for it than I did for the whole load of miscellaneous metal.

I have found a 15mm Snap on socket and screwdriver. NAPA 15mm wrench. two or three 1/2 and 9/16 wrenches made in China. Once $60 just blowing around in the street.

Nice find, the roads turn up a lot of tools around here, usually find something on my morning walk.

This was from a couple weeks ago, same day: New, unopened half-inch spade bit from Ace hardware. Have to wonder about that--did someone buy it then toss it out the window? Not like I don't have enough of them but hey, a brand new one in package. Why not?

I really like the Peterbilt sun visor, only wish it were a full cap, the better to cover the ever-widening bald spot on top of my head. Anyway, I just like baseball caps better and I like the old long-nosed Petes and I think their logo is cool.
