Another Serial Number Question

The date codes on my 3000 Diesel show it made on January 27, 1967 by the day shift in Basildon, England.

But when I look at the table in my Classic Ford Tractors book, or on TractorData, or on Anglo Agri-Parts the serial number range on 3000's should start with a C and they start at 161300 for 67.

But mine is B 064729?

Did USA and Basildon tractors use different serial numbers?

Yes, all USA built tractors started with a C. Tractors built in Basildon England started with a B, and Antwerp Belgium
tractors started with an A.

Okay, thanks Bern. I wasn't sure about that because even Anglo who is in England only lists serial numbers with C.

So does my number mean it was the 64,729th one made in Basildon in 67?

No, it was the 64,729th tractor of all tractor models made at the Basildon plant for export outside of the UK since the start of the production run for the 1965 model year. Each tractor built got the next serial number, no matter what model it was. The Basildon UK assembly plant used two separate serial number ranges. The ones made for export outside of the UK started at B000001, and the ones made to be sold domestically inside the UK started with B800001. Trust the Unit Number date code more than the serial number, as the serial number ranges posted on various sites on the internet are not always completely accurate, and the ones for the A & B serial number prefixes are pretty much nonexistent.

I ve looked at your tractor s numbers before, probably on Facebook
B064729 is for a tractor built at Basildon in 1967 for export use
There were 2 sets of dates in the photo you had posted
One was 7A27B for January 27 1967 on day shift
The other was 7B2 which is February 2 1967
The fist date is the transmission assembly date and the second is the final assembly date
You ll find that many of the early Basildon tractors had the transmission assembly date on the right side instead of the left like US models
On some the model code was stamped on the left side

No, you saw it on here when I first got it, Destroked. I'm not on facebook.

You were one of the ones that helped me decipher it.

I was just asking again about the serial because a friend was asking me if I knew how many 3000's were built that year and where mine fit in, and I had no idea.

Once again, you all have answered my questions and taught me more. Thank you.

Yours has the 64,729th export model made since Basildon production began in late 1964
Basildon was also building domestic use models with a different range of serial numbers beginning with 800001 in late 64

Ford may have kept a record of how many of each model was built but I ve never see or heard of one
I can plug in the serial number of my late model and it will tell me what model that serial number is for, but that hasn t worked on any of my thousand series

Thanks Destroked. At least it's cool you were able to tell me when mine was built and what shift.
I imagine there were quite a few 3000's built.

Now I'm just waiting to see if I'll manage to score an 86 5610 cab I'm looking at.

Is it a Series II model?
Series II should have the flat roof cab that is a bit nicer cab than the older bubble top cab, it will also have hydrostatic steering which is much simpler and less troublesome than the older power mechanical column with linkage

I have a 6610 series II which is the same chassis with a bigger engine and a few more hp
