Anti-Freeze Question

This has probably been asked before, but i was unable to find a thread when i searched for it.

I plan to flush my 52 8N cooling system. This has not been done since I have had the tractor. When it comes to refilling with ant-freeze, does it make a difference on what kind I use? I read somewhere (might have been on this site) that for these older tractors you should use a "Green" anti-freeze and not a modern anti-freeze mix. What I remember about the article is that the modern anti-freeze will eat away at certain metals, and therefore should not be used in these old tractors.

Is there any truth to this or could I just go and pick up Prestone (as an example) and just use that?

Thanks!

Yes use he old green antifreeze. If by chance you didn't get it flushed as well as you should and left some old green stuff in and then used the red antifreeze it can/well jell up and cause major problems

Thanks for the help! I did flush the cooling system and replaced the ant-freeze with the "green" type.
