I hope everyone enjoyed my trouble shooting challenge. I know that it has had a lot of views.

Does anybody else have an unusual problem/ solution that they have had to trouble shoot in the past? Consider sharing it with the rest of us.

I do have a question to ask. Over the years I have owned a few VAC's ,DC's ,a 400B ,and three 400's. Everyone of them would eventually foul the number 4 or 3 spark plug. Why do Case engines do this? I do have a quick fix for this when it happens. Can anyone guess what I do?

Pull the plug wire and hold it half inch or so away from the plug then lighty push the plug boot back on maintaining a wire gap? The increased voltage will sometimes fire a fouled plug.

Or simply move plugs 1 and 2 to slots 3 and 4 and vice versa.

Okay, I see that you have dealt with this too. Any idea as to why these plugs foul in the first place? I've been wondering about this for years.

Rings do not last as long on #4 when the water jacket is full of crap and does not cool properly.

There is a trouble shooting procedure that can be followed to determine the source of an engine knock, but I can't remember how it goes? If you disconnect the spark plug wire with the engine running and the knocking stops, then it's a ______ and if the knocking continues it's likely a _______???
