Deere base weight for double stack weights installed along with two frames that bolted along the side rails.
Was introduced on console tractors.

They are"nt really worth much other than a boat anchor unless you have the rails to mount it. There seems to be an abundance of double stack starters but a very limited amount of rails to mount them. I suppose the rails were used for other things like mounting tanks.

Hi
Now you know what it is, keep it another 20 years and it will be worth a fortune. Collectors will want one, and can't find them because they have all been scrapped!. seen this happen with parts I want now from other brand tractors.

Years ago when I worked at the dealership, the owner wrote the wrong part number for some panel clips that he ordered and a couple days later 20 of these came in on a semi...

Ooh the dealer did,,we were all glad that it wasn't our mistake,, this was back in the 70's,,back then it was easy to make a mistake, with verbal and hand written orders...

Dang thing must weigh close to 200 lb. I used to pick mine up and put it on the tractor, but it"s gotten heavier over the years and I used the chain hoist the last time I mounted it.

Yes,, the "Good Old Days" :^)Remember those file card inventory records??and the little colored flags...

It could be John Deere but it also could be one made by B W. They casted weights identical to Deeres. The backside will have a name/part number with who made it.

I have sold several complete double stack weight set ups for $300.The weight by itself with out side rails will bring about $100.I have seen them mounted to single starter weight bracket but didnt look right to me.There are also some cultivator brackets that can be used. They do protect the front and look nice on New Gen tractors.I bought a 4050 that had them on but We put correct ones on instead.
