My great great grandma and pa had one of those. I remember carrying it to the corner store with a nickle to get it filled up. The store keeper had a 55 gallon barrel with a crank on it he used to fill it.

I still have the metal one about the same size and a couple of the old oil lamps. The metal can was kept out in the coal shed behind the house.

The glass one better because you could see the fuel level as you started to pour. Less spills because you knew exactly when the oil was going to start coming out.
