Anyone know why someone would have made this Oliver hitch to fit so short?

I've done that to make puller hitches.
I don't recommend it but I've done that. gm

OK, thanks. that came with a 77 that I bought with a bunch of other stuff. He was going to make a puller out of it.

Would have some one shorten it so that to increase PTO clearance? Maybe they had hilly property and were afraid it would bind up on the PTO. This way it would have a bit more clearance? Just a thought.
