AO/AR question

I have a tractor that we bought as a styled AO. Everything visually appears to be an AO. Side exhaust (that shows no evidence of having ever been off, breather below the hood, and AO decal. I do not know the complete history of the tractor, thus I am here.
Researched the serial # and the tractor appears to have been built as an AR. Is it possible that the tractor could have been sold as an AR but with side exhaust, breather etc? If so, is there any way to verify how many might have been outfitted as such? I have spoken with 2 cylinder club and not gotten a lot of specifics. May be impossible to know more, just checking to see if anyone here might have additional insight.
I greatly appreciate any info.
Thanks,
Patrick

I was told by a dealer I worked for that the only difference in the styled AO and AR was the AO had turning brakes and an AR could be ordered with turning brakes.

(quoted from post at 13:00:13 05/22/14) I was told by a dealer I worked for that the only difference in the styled AO and AR was the AO had turning brakes and an AR could be ordered with turning brakes.

I believe that is true only with the unstyled. Don't recall ever seeing a styled AR without turning breaks and it seems unlikely.

There is at least one documented case of an AR being switched to an AO at the factory after they had already started building it. Perhaps this is another.

Maybe the only difference is the stacks. I will have
to inquire the next time I see the fellow I worked
for.

I knew of the one case you mentioned.
I don't necessarily think I have some one of a kind piece, but I also don't think the tractor has been altered that dramatically yet the serial # is for an AR. I am hoping to find if any AR were outfitted as such, and if there is a way to verify that information.
Thanks for the help thus far.

No, but you might have a two of a kind piece.
As far as I know 2CC are the only ones with access to any kind of build information so if they can't tell you any more you're probably not going to find out. There's not as much info recorded on individual tractors as people like to think.
