AR service brake?

Can someone tell me how the spring attaches to the service brake on a "49 AR? Or, does anyone have a picture of the setup? I'm working on mine and someone stretched out the main spring and also added a screen door(?) spring too. Not sure if I'm missing a piece under there or not. Can't really tell from the parts book on what hooks where. Thank you. Greg

Thanks for the picture. Here's mine. After seeing your picture I saw something in the parts book I hadn't noticed before...the spring hole in the book shows it on the forward side of the brake arm. Just what your picture shows. As you can see by my picture, the spring hole is on the rearward side of the brake arm. So, do I have the wrong arm for my '49 AR??

From your picture it looks like the brake arm has possibly been repaired / welded? If so, maybe they installed the short arm 180° out?

Wow...I'm feeling kind of stupid right now! That never once crossed my mind and now it's pretty obvious! I've had the wheels/fenders off, put in new axle bearings/seals, had the new fenders and hood repainted and cleaning everything else up and never even thought of that LOL, I do know that there's been a lot of parts on this that have been welded and figured I needed to start looking for some replacements. That's funny, this one went right by me. Thank you. Greg

If I had a nickel for every time I missed the obvious I'd have enough for the new block, head, pistons, rods & other engine parts our AR needs to run again....LOL
