Assist Industrial Model Identification

Hello,

Looked at a Ford today that was advertised as a 4600. Checked it out and found it was a very nice tractor. However, I do not believe it is a 4600. I do not believe the owner is being deceitful vs. maybe being told something different himself.

I believe it may be a 335 industrial. I noted the arched, non adjustable front end, yellow under blue paint, smaller rear tires and a few other things. Also, there are no power steering cylinders on the sides.

While I have owned MF and JD tractors, I am not sure about Fords. I understand they are good tractors but need a little better idea as to what I am buying. He wants 4600 price that I am not willing to pay for a non-4600 machine.

Long story, but I don't have access to serial number at this time. I am looking for any advice or identifiers for these tractors aside from the obvious. I like the tractor but I need eliminate some concern. I would post pics but YT site giving me a hard time. Thanks in advance

I was going to guess it's a 335 which has
that same heavy arched front axle but
those steered with two cylinders - one on
each side. Those were built on the
smaller, lighter 3600 chassis.
I wonder if it was a 340. Same front axle
but steered differently - one drag link
on the left side.
A 340 would have been built on the 4600
chassis with the heavier, double
reduction rear end and wet disc brakes.
Both models would likely have the 6X4
transmission which was good for loader
work but not as good for mowing, plowing,
etc
.
Both tractors could likely have live or
independent pto which you would want but
just as likely might just have
transmission pto which you would Not want
for mowing.

Addendum to my reply to your other post. If there's no P/S cylinder on each radius rod, it's not a 4410.
