autolite plugs

i have been looking for some autolite 3116 plugs for my 49 b. (recommendation from this site) have tried the local parts houses with no luck. they say they cross to a different autolite number, but when they bring these out, they are a small plug with a long reach. have got the same results at both local stores. i thought the 3116 plugs were a large plug like the champions that are in it now! the parts man said he didnt know what to tell me, that the computer is showing them to be the same as the ones he showed me.(both stores same answer) he even showed me computer screen while he was searching, and this is indeed what it showed to be a match. what gives??

My NAPA store keeps the right 3116 plug BUT if I get a rookie counterman, he goes and brings that smaller plug and I have to remind him it's NOT 3116 "bin code" or "quick code" it's the number on the plug itself and when he looks confused......one of the old hands goes back and brings me the right 3116 plug. No one explains it cause they are too busy with customers but I suspect NAPA has attached a 3116 number to another plug that is not 3116 on the plug itself. Just make sure you take an old plug with you. Paul

Advance Auto had mine. Not in stock but got them from their warehouse and had them to my store by the next morning. I ordered an extra pair while I was at it. Much, much cheaper than Champions and work just fine.

i run 388's as well, they are the hot plug and work fine.

I found them at Steiner Tractor Parts but the #3116's believe it or not are listed in the Farmall Section. They do have 386's listed with John Deeres The Brillman Co also has them and the #388's.

AC C88L will work fine too. Denso 3020's are supposed to ok as well.
On ocaasion you can still find Autolite 387's.
Resistor plugs and wires on equipment that isn't equipped with an AM radio is a waste of spark energy & is a liability.

I got my 3116’s from Advance Auto Parts. I went ahead and got 2 sets for each tractor, so far they work really well and don’t seem to foul nearly as bad as the champions did. They also seem much heavier duty just looking at them and feeling of them.
