Day 3 lost the wd40 used pb blaster, lost the weak sister puller used her bigger brother. Two rounds of heat and 4lb hammer from every angle. Still no luck. Next to check rental store for hub puller. After that I am prepared to remove whole unit to have pressed out. Thank you for advice so far. Brian

I had to buy a hub puller. I thought the $150 was wasted dough, but I pulled both hubs and did seals and shoes in an afternoon. I'll gladly rent it out to anyone near. Well worth it.

sorry, no pic
been awhile since I worked on a hub that didn't just fall off
I got a few off by using 2 short pieces of chain
fastened to the lugs with washers and lugnuts
cross em and put a bottle jack in with the plunger
against the axle, base against the crossed chains.
jack the jack and they came off.
Eventually, I'll probably get around to bending up some flat
stock into an open ended narrow rectangle, drilled L bends/feet on
the open end. Bolt/lug them to the hub, fit a bottle jack under them.
Those heavy duty pullers are just too much money for me

Like I said in your earlier thread, put it back together, leave the hub nut a couple of turns loose and USE the tractor until it loosens.

be careful I did one, would not come off. I was down looking it over.raised up & went to get something. that hub come off like a cannonball.(my lucky day).now I tell everyone about it.

One of mine was stubborn. I took the bolts out that hold the backing plate/bearing assembly to the axle housing and pulled the whole axle/backing plate mess out as a unit. I reattached the hub to the wheel, which was standing upright suspended by a chain to the rafters. I drove the axle out with a BFH. My axle was shot, so I didn't worry about damaging the threads on the end of it.

I suppose, if you're one of those rich guys with a press, you could press it out, too.

YMMV
