My 8N has been leaking oil from axles ever since i got it about a year ago. I
decided its finally time to fix this issue.

I took brake drum and the whole brake assembly thing off and found a green
colored seal on axle. There was also the seal in metal ring on brake assembly.

I am a little confused about which one is which (outer/inner) because the kit
on this website comes with 3 for each side and I cant seem to find the third
seal.

In the 3rd photo you can see some scoring on the circle part and I cant figure
out what caused this.

Earlier models had a different seal set up than later models, so you
will need to determine which axle and seal set up you have. The
early ones did not have the inner seal. It was an improvement later.

My tractor is a 1950 and from the article you sent me I have
determined mine does not have inner seal.

Do you know what may of caused the scoring?

Also, after popping axle nut clip off I found the axle but was
only finger tight. Is this cause of wear? Could tightening this
cause the seals to not leak?

I don't see any pictures, so I can't see the scoring.
The hub and nut are most likely loose because the hub it wore out.
Check that article again for how far out the axle splines should be.
If the hub is worn, it wobbles and ruins the seals. Very common.

"extra seal was added at serial number 245261 which is a 1949 model."

Yep, that's what John's site tells us. Thing is, we don't know what
parts have been changed over the years. He could have a 1950
tractor with 1946 axle housings and 1948 axles installed in them.
Without seeing them and knowing the difference, I can't say.
I know I have interchanged them and they will fit and seal.
As long as the hub fits snugly on the axle.

'aint difficult. Just look into the trumpet to see if there is a place for the inner seal or not. Or from the outside, the trumpet will have a bulge in the casting if made for inner seal. No need for numbers or rocket science.

I did not see any bulge so I?m assuming mine does not have
spot for 3rd seal. So what are the other 2 seals called?

Outer, inner and even more inner?

ub seal & axle gasket

The Axle gasket is the metal retainer with 6 bolt holes and rubber in center?

And the Hub seal is the small ring that goes inside bearing cup?

If this is not correct can you send me pictures? ( [email protected] )
