B 12 Caterpillar

I fell air to a Cat/Towmotor 12000lb forklift. The engine is tired but I can't identify it. It's going to be 1960-1970 vintage. It is a flat head six with the distributor coming straight out of the head between #4 and #5 cylinders. It is physically smaller than a Chrysler. Any ideas?

With luck there"ll be a tag on the engine somewhere that"ll ID the engine (a number of Cont"ls were used).
If it"s one of the more popular Cont"ls, and it probably is, parts may be available locally.
If no more definite help/ID turns up, try garradmoon@[email protected] (Chicago)or parossmachinery.com (Dallas?), both old/obsolete Cont parts suppliers, both well spoken of in these forums. Good luck.
