B steering gear

My Ross steering gear on my 52 B is very sloppy. It was a used unit, when I bought it in 2000, from pleasnt Hill wrecking yard in Kentucky. It is hard to keep it straight across a field. Where can I get this rebuilt, or order a rebuilt unit?

Probly your problem would be the same as the pictures below.

Dick L. is 100% right. After seeing his pics I took mine apart and welded the nipple up & ground it down till it fit nice & tight again. They're simple to take apart & re-assemble. I also took a thick piece of felt and cut out a new seal for the shaft to go through. Problem solved.

Jeff, My Dads B, has lots of play, I have not taken his apart yet, his is a 1946 B, and my b is a 1939. not sure if dads is a ross,or other make? would it still be the same repair on a ross v.s other (cant think of the name right now) thanks Jim sorry about hyjacking post, but similar situation with Dads steering.

Thank's Dick! I expected to find the same senario, you showed in your pictures, that's what the original gear box looked like. I really didn't want to do the repair, and was hoping to find a sorce, for a rebuilt unit, or else a rebuilder to ship my unit to. I only have AC-DC stick, and no wire feed. Someone liked the mig that I had 2 yrs ago, but left the gas bottle behind. I could do it with braze, but it would wear fast.
