For those who read the post I poke in last week, the lock collar on my B has been removed from the shaft. In case anyone has a bear of a time getting theirs loose, here's the steps I did and it worked great!
Take a 1/8 drill bit and drill through the lock about centered on the outer ring. On the other side using a 1/4 inch bit, drill another hole centered on the ring. With a chisel, take 2 good hits in the 1/4 inch hole. It snaps in half and exposes the threads. Even though the stake in the threads was opened up, the factory hit made it mesh the threads on the shaft. There was no way that one would have come off without damaging the threads with the amount of rust and gunk on the axle. The bearing slid right off the shaft. All I have left is to remove the outer race from the housing. Its late enough tonight that I came inside.
I also adjusted the valve clearance after I warmed it up. There was only one that was slightly out of specs. Everything else will be done later this week if the warm weather keeps going.
