B verses C

What is it about a B that it seems more desirable than a C? Particularly the standard run-of-the-mill models. I can understand the attraction of the specialty models of either.
I grew up with a '39 stemwinder B, but when I was out looking for tractors to use in the '70s, I hardly ever saw a B, but Cs were everywhere in this area. And they always wanted more $ the Bs.
Being that they are nearly identical mechanicaly and in utility, I'm just curious as to why people prefere one over the other.

i know wide fronts are more desirable to people and raise the price of an old tractor, but i wouldnt think that would make a B THAT much harder to find.....

i have 5 Bs, and no C. I specifically look for the B because it is a foot narrower on the back end. ALL B tractors are wide front. I just like the looks of the B much better. The wide rear end and narrow front are good for specific applications, but for bladeing, plow, and general work on non- farm applications, the little B is much prefered. THE B was made from 1938-1958 so there WERE more around, if you can find one.

Back in the days of the B&C, virtually all row crops had to be cultivated. Those crops were, in most cases, planted with a two row planter pulled by horses. Rows were about 42" or so apart. That made a tractor that would handle a two row cultivator preferable over one that could only do one row.

When i started to look for a B end of last year i placed ads on the internet here and other sites asking for what out there for sale or trade I probly had 25 replys from around the ocuntry5 being a days drive or closer from my house. and with in the last onth it was 2 one guy wanted to sell and the other wanted to trade so being short on free cash i took the trade option and it only cost me a tank of gas and days labor the main reason i search for a B was its narrower and has a wide front this will make easy loading onto my car hauler. I had a few tricycle deeres and molines and always had to carry a thrid ramp all the wide fornt i owned fordsons silver king and now the B all just made life easyer now that not to say i pass up a good deal on C just didnt fit the bill of what i was looking for now even if your looking jsut put out a few feelers and see what comes up
