B414 gas distributor

I was checking the points in the distributor and they barley opened when i turned the tractor over and sparking orange. So I adjusted them and had the feeler gauge in (.014) when I tighten them back down they seem to be opened a lot better and when I turned the tractor over nice big blue spark. I know very little about distributors except for the videos I watched the last few days. So I turned the engine over so the points would be open but I couldn t quite get it but I could turn the distributor shat so the points would be open, is that normal? After I set them I turned the shaft back to where it was. I apologize if this post makes no sense.

The tractor would only run with the choke on and wouldn t run for a very long time without moving the choke or idle
Since I adjusted the points the tractor will stay running still with a little choke but I could drive it around my yard, so the adjustment definitely helped.
I have clutch problems too but that s gonna be a different post, 1 problem at a time

I still can t post picture, it looks like something could be broken on the distributor but I m not sure

This is distributor pre adjustment just wondering if this looks normal, looks like something is broken where the roter sits on.

All you did by turning the points cam lobes was you
just moved the centrifugal advance against its springs.
If you go to the parts diagram link I sent you in you
other post go to Electrical then subsection 059 for the
distributor. The parts between 7 & 12 are the
centrifugal advance. There are weights in it that swing
out against springs as the distributor shaft spins
faster. They twist the cam lobe with the bumps on it
the direction the shaft is turning as it is able to turn on
the main part of the shaft that goes down in the
engine. By doing that the ignition spark timing is
..advanced.. or happens sooner. This helps the engine
burn the fuel in the cylinders more completely and
hold it make more power. I offered for you to send me
an email in your other post so I can get you access to
some helpful info on repairing your tractor.
Edit to add: You should smear about a BB sized spot of chassis grease to lube the 3 lobes the points are not blocking it will transfer to the last one.

You might want to toss the spark plugs if you are
still having drivability problems. If this has been
going on for very long, weak spark will cause the
plugs to soot foul. May as well go all the way and
make sure your ignition timing is correct also.
