Can anyone tell me if the much cheaper Mahindra filter is compatible with my B414? I attached pics and the Mahindra part number is the same as the IH part number.

Thanks,

If you used a photo search to find that part I would only put about 5 percent of confidence in the photo an eBay seller posts. Many are legitimate, but plenty are not. I would rely way more on part number, description and fitment then I would the correctness of the photo.

I would bet it would fit. Some years ago I ordered a PTO lever for my "424" though the CIH dealer". It came in a Mahindra bag with a CIH label stuck on it.

The story is that (back in the day) India wouldn't let outside companies come in and operate on their own, they had to pair with an Indian company.

IH partnered with Mahindra and later Mahindra continued to make machinery based on older IH designs.

Interesting!

I did order it and it looks like the IH part. Unfortunately, the old one broke off at the nipple/oring and I haven't been able to remove it, so, technically, I can't say 100% it worked. But it definitely looked like it would.

Any ideas how to get the nipple end out?

Great . I ordered two from an e-bay seller.

To remove the bit stuck inside you could try an Eas-y-out or an appropriate sized tap which would allow you to make a thread and use a longer machine screw that could be grasped with pliers.

Did you try making a short pic to drag it out like I suggested on Red Power? Some pb blaster wouldn't hurt either.
