B414 hydraulic orifice filter

When I went to replace the orifice filter, what came out barely resembles the new part. The old filter seems to have separated. It's missing the front (nipple) end, only the coarse screen and fine mesh came out, it would appear that the end with the O-ring is stuck inside the head. Any suggestions on how to get it out? Can the cylinder head plate be removed with having to remove the entire hydraulic valve assembly from the tractor?

I would get a cheap set of picks and grind the one that sticks straight sideways short enough to fit inside. Put a point back on it and then try to catch the end and drag it out. Try to turn it first to break the O ring seal. You could also grind a hook on a small screwdriver and do the same thing. If that falls use a straight pick and force it between one edge and the housing to bend it in a little. Then using a small pair of hemostats grab it and pull it out. Last one I bought was about $32 on ebay. Good luck!
