Well, I put these wires on along with new points but, this did not help any. further testing showed low compression on #3 cyl. Oil helped compression a little and the valves are fine. so I was just waiting till I had the time to tear into it when it ate the wires. I'm trying to clean out the shop to get it in.
I was asking Mfrench as he started this thread. rustred and I are waiting to see if it runs with the plug wires in the correct order.

If you are having issues with your tractor, it is best to start your own thread and not mix your issues in with the ones Mfrench is dealing with.

Jim, Are the Belden Premium metallic wires a 2n set? or spool and make your own?
I don't know. You need to ask at NAPA as I believe they sell Belden. The premium has the heavier insulation jacket and may not fit in the tube, I can't say one way or the other. I usually just get a universal set of wire core wires (not Belden) for a tractor with the correct number of cylinders and adjust the length as needed before installing the loose end.

@ Mfrench

Belden Premium metallic wires, good wires with a heavy jacket. As rustred noted they could be cleaned up a bit to look neater but that is up to you neighbor.

Have you re-arranged the sparkplug wires yet? If so, did it start and run?

Edited to clarify who reply was to.
Yes it runs now .after rebuilding the carb the float Sticks ive got to pull it apart agin .i may have tweaked a float setting float height .i have essential hand tremors .I never ran into the spark plug wire issue .if I replaced wires I always did one at a time so no mix ups .have a ford 9n / wd / wc allis chalmers .thank you to all that helped me !

Glad to hear it runs. Plug wires likely won't get you again, will they?

When setting the float height, I use a drill bit shank as a gauge (of the called for dimension, often 1/4" to 5/16 on a Marvel Schebler) to pass between the float and carb body gasket. Easier than trying to measure and you can see that the top of the float is parallel to the body.

It is running now. I feel embarrassed that I didn’t understand the spark plug sequence, but I’m thankful that you guys gave me some good advice and helped me out. Thank you very much and have a good year.

Just another of life's learning experiences. You have the knowledge of it now and the tractor runs.

if you said," i dont understand" as we would have got you going a lot quicker, and saved beating our heads, till the pic came. i had faith it would run, :) good job. did you surprise your self when it started ?😁

Yes it was a big sigh of relief. when it goes back to them, they don’t much care what the thing looks like. When I changed the engine oil looked like the worst Nasty diesel oil I’ve seen. The coil wire to the battery was just wrapped around the stud for the transmission switch. Now I’ve rewired it. At least it’s got a switch and an amp Meter .It’s got a carriage bolt through the adjuster on the alternator ..radiator was down a gallon and a half. I
When I changed the transmission hydralic fluid the biggest drain plug of the three had six ball bearings and a short pin with a cotter key hole fell out. Now that it’s full it leaks out of the cotter key in the bottom of the bell housing .so like I said as long as it starts, they don’t much care and I’m not gonna waste my time trying to make it perfect but I certainly do appreciate the chance to learn something. Thank you.
