Well, got down to the hospital bright and early Friday morning at the Cath. Lab. As my luck usually runs, My flight was delayed. A patient from another small hospital was being transported here due to a medical emergency. 4 hrs. later I was finally wheeled into the cath. lab where they did an exploratory look, and then went to work. There is a Y in the artery that supplies the left side of my heart and one branch of that had a 90% blockage. My previously installed stents were at this Y also, except they were holding the other side of the Y open. The doc was afraid that if he put the new stents into the other side of the Y, he might crush the old one at the Y so he used angioplasty to expand the old stent and he slid another new one in it, and then he opened up the collapsed side the same way, and installed stents in that one also. The doc. seamed pretty confident that I would be doing much better now.
I'm still pretty tender in my groin where they put the one eyed snake in. The worst part was the manual pressure that they apply to keep the artery closed after the procedure. They held constant pressure there for 45 min. until they were sure it wouldn't open up and bleed, and then they took me back to the recovery room. Since the procedure was delayed for so long, they decided to admit me for an overnight. They finally got me into a room in the cardiac care floor about 5:00 pm.
Had a older gent for a roommate and he was in bad shape. There was a constant flow of staff in and out of the room all night, and I got NO sleep what so ever.
They released me about 11:30 am and I came home and and slept all yesterday afternoon.
I'm feeling much better today, but still can't do much for fear of opening up the incision in my groin.
Thanks to everyone for their concerns.
Loren
PS Dennis T--- all though they did put the two big red patches on each side of my chest, they didn't have to use them.

There is no such thing as rest in a hospital. Even if you can get to sleep in one of those tinny beds they wake you up every hour to see if you are still alive, even with a heart monitor hooked to you. I guess they want to make sure that you aren't wrapped up in all the wires and IVs and strangling or something.

Sure glad to hear you're home and on the mend, Loren. Sure is no place like home. My dad spent nearly all last year in the hospital before passing the day after Christmas. You certainly are right, there is no resting in a hospital!

John, I was just using the flight delay as a figure of speech, in relation to having to wait 4 hrs. before getting into the cath. lab. I went through all the prep for the visit to the lab, and then the emergency from another small area hospital destroyed their daily schedule.
I go to Bassett in Cooperstown.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Was wondering how everything was going. Hope you get up and about soon. I am guessing your still have sap to thicken.(<: But I bet you have good help taking care of that.

Hey Loren--Sorry I missed your post until now. Glad you are on the mend. Fun ain't it...Glad they didn't need to zap ya. They had me on call to come with my jumper cables! So they took the groin route with you---I could here them nurses giggling clear out here in Iowa!!!----Tee "Dennis T"
