backhoe 310 lock up

The original subject was "backhoe 310 lock up".

If the clutch goes up will it lock up the engine? Is their any other reason for it locking up? The head is off know sign of water damage.
 
Possibly but not likely..I'm more inclined to think main or rod bearing seisure....Besides , it's easier to pull the oil pan than to split the tractor...I'd look for a dry or blued bearing cap..I haven't seen clutch parts lock up a backhoe engine , but have seen many JD 350 crawlers with broken reverser isolator springs..
 
One other thing to check....Take off your hydraulic pump drive to eliminate the pump from seisure problem..That would act like a locked up engine too..
