Good afternoon All: I have found a world of info on this site been using it for quite a while I appreciate all the knowledge you guys have. Now I need to pick you brains somewhat. I've been reading about three point hitch backhoes and some say yes some say no but here is what I need. I have a Yanmar 2310D w/FEL. works great and have had no trouble with it, that I couldn't find info on here. I also have a TerraMite TB5 backhoe/FEL an older model, the pumps went out and now TerraMite wants $1700 for the two pumps unfortunately the terraMite isn't worth it. My question is would that be too much weight to place on a three point hitch I know it won't do production type digging but would beat a shovel. And can I hook into my hydraulics to operate it? It only requires 6gpm to operate.

It is not necessarily just the weight but also the stress that is added when you are digging. There is a lot of leverage sticking out there. Think of that boom as a giant prybar. Me, personally, I would not ever use a three point mounted backhoe unless the tractor was specifically designed for it.

Yes. You should have right at around 5gpm on your tractor. Might work a little slower than with a dedicated pump but will still work. Just hook it up like a loader
