Bad idea dealing with stuck engine?

This is a wet sleeve engine. Would it be possible to weld something across the sleeve down a couple inches to attach a puller to and pull both sleeve and piston at same time? Engine had water down exhaust and sleeve is really rusty. Piston is down a few inches.

I have removed both at once. You might be able to get it out welding inside the heat might help it loosen.

I worked at it from down below with a jack on the floor and 3 lbs hammer. It worked pretty well since the piston was stuck

Drill a hole in the top of the piston thread it and pull it out piston and sleeve. 5/8 fine thread works for me. Use a ɓar on top spaced up from block deck.

Thought about that as everything here is to be tossed anyway. Thanks for reinforcement.

Piece of pipe on a bottle jack and push up from the bottom. With the front tires off the ground lay a 4x4 across the block and hit it with a sledgehammer. (I did push the center of a piston once)

A common trick to get out stubborn press-fit bushings and bearing cones is to crank up the welder and run some continuous beads around the inside. When the weld cools, it shrinks the bushing/cone with it and they usually drop right out. Not sure if it would be applicable here. If it were mine, I'd probably try jacking/pulling first, and save the welding as a back up plan to help a little more if the jack or pulling alone can't do it.

using old rags soaked in diesel fuel mixture with small amount of gas as a starter pack the rags in, light, give up to 20 minutes [ have a drink of coffee while waiting is long enough] this warms the sleeve and piston, the piston should then push out with relative ease. """THIS was a recommendation from an older YT writer several years back"""
