Bad oil pressure on dexta

Is the drop to 5 PSI at idle or up to speed?

And is this something new or any knocking?

If it's always been this way or has very slowly lost pressure over the years, and no new noises or changes in performance it's not really concerning. The rule of thumb is 10 PSI per 1000 RPM is a safe minimum pressure.

But if there has been a sudden change, something is happening. Could be worn bearings, worn pump, stuck relief valve, or oil contaminated with fuel.

One tying that will not fix it is shimming or stretching the relief valve spring.

I have an old Massey with the same problem. I have gone over to Rotella T5 15w40 oil. Oil pressure is improved and I think the synthetic oil gives better lubrication even at lower pressure. I've been doing this for 3 years...no problem so far.
