Bad Tank Lining

So a couple of years I relined the tank in my 560D. Used one of the tank liner paints from YT. Something went wrong and this liner has become a gooey mess on the bottom of the tank. Any suggestions on how to clean this out?

Contact the manufacturer of the liner you used. They would know failure modes, causes and the best methods to correct the issue. The YT forum chemists are not likely to know the magic solvent to use, etc. where the manufacturer should.

They can be an absolute nightmare to remove - one of the reasons everyone on here says 'don't do it! ' every time someone asks about putting a liner in. I only use them for tanks that are leaking and can't be fixed - when there' s nothing to lose. For tanks that are just rusty inside or can be welded/patched, better to fix, clean up and strip the rust, and coat the inside WD40 to wick it's way into the seams and prevent future rust.

To try and remove the liner: Start with muriatic acid in there and a pile of bolts or short length of chain. Plug every hole, then strap it to a cement mixer and let it tumble around for a few hours to work on stripping the liner. Might have to do it several times and strap it in several different positions until it's all stripped. Expect it to be a strugglesome affair and to need to re-paint the outside, as acid will dribble out an wreck the paint.

The original coating inside my Jubilee tank was flaking off. It looked like gray primer paint.
I was lucky and bought a new tank from YT.

That's a diesel, isn't it?

That algae/bacteria that can form in diesel is a gooey mess.
