Bak or front

Another post got me wondering. On a farm yard does the front of the house face the yard or the road?
Wife and I disagree on this. I say yard and she says road.
But what if you have a quarter mile long driveway? She says don't make any difference. Always called front nomatter how far the road is.

For me the front of the house should face the road. Just another example of she is (always) right.

Just my opinion but the front of the house always faces the road.

Depends on the situation. Might face the road, might face a nice view or the yard.

My grandparents built a new house on a small lot carved out of a field. Back of the house faced the road as they didn’t want to look out on the traffic, but would rather look at nature. All the doors were on the side facing away from the road and the driveway came in around one end. Planted a solid row of trees between the house and road.

House i currently live in faces east. Sits just to the north of an east/west road. Front of the house faces the yard where the barn was and the driveway runs in between. Much better view to the east than any other direction, plus the wind rarely blows out of the east here.

On my house it is neither. What you would call the front door is on the side of the house. The front of the house facing the road has no doors.

To me the front of the house is whichever side the main entrance (front) door is.

Okay, so yesterday I mowed the A lawn.
Got it.

When growing up Dinner was at 12 noon, Supper was at 6PM or later.

Our house can't be seen from the road, the front faces the yard.

The back faces the neighbours hayfield.

One end faces the road 500 ft. away with trees between house and road.

Front faces the road... grew up on a farm with a long driveway. Front room (a.k.a living room now) faced the road - same as our farm now.
Always entered both places via back door, into a porch... porch door enters the kitchens.

Lunch was a snack before chores then supper. After supper was milking.

In my opinion, the first picture appears to be the front of the house as envisioned by the designer. It is a beautiful house BTW!
