Bale wagon vs barn

Hi all I was thinking about buying a bale wagon to put up hay (weak back and no help) what size barn works good with one of these... I would like to just back in and dump... how much overhead clearance is needed? I would be greatful for any input Thanks Rickey in Ky

Rickey h roederimp.com have a really good site that explains operation and spec for all the different New Holland bale wagons. I use one and have heavy purlins mounted horizontal in the shed back wall for the stacks to lean on. This works well.

I wood go with a grapple on the front end loader so I could get them out too they have an accumulator that puts them in groups for the grapple then just drive up set the hooks with the hyd lever then set on wagon,trailer or what have you.

Both my brother in laws have New Holland pull type bale wagons and have a 7 row high capacity. It takes 13feet 8 inches to stand the bale wagon up for unloading.This is to the top of the arc when unloading. One has a 50 by 80 barn with 14+ feet of clearance. He uses one half of the building for hay storage during the season, then as the barn lofts get emptied he has a fall or winter haying day and uses the wagon again to take them out of the storage shed and takes them to the barns. Works pretty slick. The othe BIL is just getting his site ready to build a 50 by 80 building also. We watched a 9 row high stacker work in Eastern Washington last week and that takes about 17 feet to set and unload. We wathed this operation work for several hours. Had 4 balers and 3 self propelled wagons running in the same big field. There were 3 brothers who run over a thousand acres of hay ground mostly for export and some for high end horse operations. With the big square bales around here guys buy quanset huts and they have a lot of room ,and some have pole buildings with open sides and ends with about 16' of clearance to the ceiling rafters
