I have been searching for a 24t with an engine, or as far as that goes, any other JD baler with an engine for years. There simply arent any for sale anywhere. So I am planning on buying one and converting it. I know a few were converted to PTO so does anyone have parts for this? Do any of the Amish sell kits for this. Where do I start?

By the time of the 24T, most farmers had enough tractor to run baler with PTO. No need for extra engine to mantain, etc. By the way, balers of that size are suprisingly low in power requirements.

Are you set in stone on a JD baler? Or is your question prompted because you have a smallish tractor?

I bale with a 1950 Ford 8N (25 HP when new, probably less today) and a NH Hayliner 68, PTO driven. I'm on flat ground and it works well if I mind the windrow size, and that's pulling a small 100 bale hayrack, too.

Yep want a JD. I have used Internatiional, massey furgeson, and new holland but prefer JD. I have plenty of power to pull a PTO baler, I just prefer engine driven over PTO.
