Nephew got a new to him John Deere 6415 for me to bale with. I really like it. I baled almost 900 bales yesterday. The head liner has came loose and fallen down. Has anyone else noticed this issue and what did you do to repair it?

the headliner in my 6320 was coming down. I used upholstery buttons to hold it up. They are short screws with a washer and plastic cover that snaps on the washer.

I did a combine cab years ago. Used a 3M spray adhesive from the hardware store. If it's real bad, probably the foam underneath is bad. I replaced that with some foam from a fabric store (JoAnn Fabric). Used the same spray glue on both. Word of caution though, you have to put it up exactly how you want it as it won't move around into position once they come together. I also had some props to put under it til glue cured (over night). Couple boards or plywood on top of props helps. A little planning ahead made it work pretty easy. Paul

nice tractor. as for the upholstery every cab built has a crappy interior.looks great but in a few years they fail. 1 would think they would use top shelf material in the cabs

I had a headliner fall in a pickup years ago, I took the liner out, put it on saw horses and used 20lb clear fishing line with a needle attached to re-hang it. I used the holes as a guide and just stitched it to the pre existing backing. Ended up with a bunch of squares that looks pretty neat. Still holding after 15 years.

Buttons will only hold it up where there are buttons. Everywhere else it will be hanging down and looking bad.

The right, best way to fix it is to replace the headliner. It's hanging down because the foam has degraded. Trying to glue it back up is a waste of time, like trying to glue something to sand.

For temporary relief you might try taking plyable wooden slats, yard stick size, that are longer than the width of the cab. The bows will anchor against the side walls from the downward push of the ceiling covering.

Neighbor used to have one and claimed it put more hours in the shop than on the farm. He only kept it for two years and bought a kubota. Good luck with yours,it sure does look nice

Thats what we bale with. Bought it new. JD hadnt built a tractor as good since the 6415. Weve bought a lot of new ones and some are very bad. Like the D series. Just bought 4 new 5115 and having trouble with electronics junk with 500 hrs. The older tractors are better.

Thanks for the advice, I will pass it on to him. I have been doing most of his baling since I retired. We were told that the previous owner always kept it inside when not in use, 2100 hours.

The headliner in my 7600 started falling down. I got short screws and fender washers, well at least they were larger diameter than regular flat washers. I simply screwed into the existing headliner with my screws and washers. At least fifteen years later it is still fine.
