band saw blade

I'm curious as to the procedure used to replace a band saw blade that has jumped off due to the operator (me) being too agressive with forcing the speed of the cut. The blade didn't break. This is a small band saw with wheels about 10 inches in diameter. More than 2 hands would be welcome to get the blade back in place. I finally resorted to bread ties to hold the blade on one wheel while my hands worked at the other wheel and the tightener. That proved to be successful. Thanks for your help.

The " tightener " should loosen more than enough to allow the new blade to just slide on . If the blade really needs force to install it then it is either too small for the machine or the tensioner is binding or faulty . There is also a tilt adjustto the idle wheel on many saws . This cants the wheel to allow the blade to high centre on the rubber . If it is adjusted far to one side it will raise the edge , also making a new blade hard to fit .

The manual that came with my band saw has the procedure. If you bought a cheap one without a manual or have lost your manual, you may be able to look it up on line. To set it up correctly will take step by step micro adjustments. My blade rarely comes off, because it is adjusted correctly.

Same with mine, HF cheap saw. Guide rollers need to be set correctly....not too tight. Blade should be uniform and smooth where it contacts the rollers. No oil on the blade or wheel surfaces.
