Banjo Bolt Leakage

Oliver 1850 diesel with Perkins 354. There is a fuel filter on the left side of the engine. It has a leaking banjo bolt fitting. Retightening slowed it down but didn't stop it. Engine was rebuilt this past winter. It never leaked before. I want to have parts in hand when I go at this. Tractor is way back in the " back 40". What material should these washers be? Oliver part number is...159373A. It would be nice to have the dimensions when I go to the local shop. Thanks Ziffel

I use a sheet of wet/dry sand paper on a flat surface and lubricate it with diesel fuel or mineral spirits and resurface each side until the grooves have all been removed.

just showed my nephew yesterday how its done on some brass washers that where on the hydraulic outlet fittings on his Case tractor.

In addition, any copper washers (at least) should be annealed before further use.

An example: over 50 years ago, I used the same engine cylinder head gasket, on my motorcycle engine, multiple times without any problem whatsoever.

If one does not know how to do the job properly, buy new replacements is my advice.

A couple of years ago, there was a post on here about someone having the same problems with his JD 4020. I don't have the posting, but I kept a note on their solution of using a Case IH steel washer with a Teflon insert. They said the part numbers were as follows: 670207C1(Case IH) - $18 ish CAD each D670207C1 (Dipaco Diesel) - $3.84 CAD each.
I have a JD 4020 and thought that it might come in handy someday. Thanks to whoever did post it, and sorry I did not keep that with my notes. I suppose you could do a search on this site on the part numbers to find the original post.
