barley straw/

hey guys and gals-- this might sound stupid but what is the best time of the year to plant winter barley-- I have heard all kinds of info on this-??? also does anyone have any for sale now-- bales or lose any cond for mulch in the NE new york I am 35 miles south of albany--

This site told me a couple of weeks ago to plant in the Fall - Sept. I am in central TN. Odd; I was just thinking about when I'd get enough rain to do it....Our last rain was July 24th or thereabouts and it's been 100 degrees 15 days since then....

higgins-- yeah we are in the northeast NY by albany and we have had about the right rain except right now it is a little dry-- but I don't think that should bother winter barley/ it should germinate in the spring I think, I might be wrong on that== anyway we are a lot colder than you-- we are already down to 40's and 50's some mornings for the last couple of weeks-- although one day we had 90 and high humidity-- do you put round up or something on the field before planting and how long do you wait to plant after it is put on bLw
