barn raising part two

the barn went up today! was supposed to go yesterday but there was an issue with one of the computer controlled cables. 9 hydraulic scissor jacks did the lifting powered by 3 hydraulic power units. the laser kept everything level while the computer controlled the lift. total time for the lift was less than 15 minutes. the walls were hinged to the roof in kind of a tongue and groove fashion. same with the posts on the ground. when the lift was complete the posts were attached and fastened in to place. slicker n eel snot! the peanut gallery (or sidewalk superintendents ) sat on the patio enjoying home made banana bread and coffee. i will start attaching pics as they are my iphone and its easier to type from the ipad

So the peanut gallery was wrong if they said it won't work. This reminds me of the Gunsmoke episode when Chester was trying to refurbish a shack (put a rock under a corner). An old neighbor sat there (the sidewalk supervisor) saying it won't work. Chester needs help, but the 'supervisor' doesn't lift a finger and subsequently the shack collapses and the 'supervisor' said I told you it won't work. Best Gunsmoke show of the series I'd say.

That is a looooooong barn! Very impressive, looks like they've done this before. Any siding going on or is he leaving the walls open? Interesting process, thanks for the pics.

walls will be going up starting tomorrow. half the barn is concrete. the door on the left will be a heated workshop with office and bathroom.
the right half of the barn will be cold storage for machinery.

just wondering if them scissor lifts are in place first when building it or stuffed into place after. i guess money talks. must be the price of a new combine there, well maybe not quite.

The only puzzle to me is why 9 scissors? Would think an even number would be used.

Thanks for the pics.

So what and where do they put bracing in so it doesn't fall over afterwards and against winds? DO they put them in the corners after it is up or just try to use the siding for that.
