I am looking at buying a 250 bu batch grain dryer, what all should a guy look over before buying one. What places show wear etc. What would be a resonable price. Thanks

What brand? Look closely at auger flightings for thinning, typical bearing wear, vertical auger tube for worn through spots, burner and deflector burn through, stress cracks on over-all unit, locked up stirrator bearings(common),rotted out lower vertical auger support housing.

We have a Tox-o-wic 500 batch and didn't pay alot for it,but put a fair amount into it over the years.

I'd say fair price between 300-1,000

Thanks for the reply, it is a tox-o-wic brand. I do not know alot about dryers but it is getting to the place where I am going to need one.

Do you mean the 300+ bu pto model, or did they make a smaller non-pto version?

The big (500bu) ToW is good, the smaller pto version uses too much LP these days for what it does.

Yeah, they made a 250 bu model, the 260 in the 1960's and the 270 in the 1970's. In fact, they still make a 200 bu model as well as larger ones(check out their website at www.gtmfg.com)
