Battery cable query

My dad shorted his watch between the chassis and the picture tube on an old TV. He bit the stem of his pipe off as us kids watched it happen. The watch was welded in place, but he yanked his hand out of it. Made me a believer in the power of the electron. steve

was it on the high tension lead to the Tube? the cap for them is wicked, cant remember the voltage for sure, dad worked on tv's for a lot of years and I helped as I got older, remember all kinds of funny although painful stories about that lead!

I worked around machinery all my life and never wore a wedding or any ring. I saw what could happen in high school when a student shorted his ring on a starter terminal. OUCH

Yup, that would be the place. Rubber cap over a whole lot of pain and misery.

Same here. Plenty of clocks around and as far as wearing a wedding ring I know I'm married. I think my wedding ring is a little too tight to wear, now.

My brother in law nearly lost his finger due to a ring. Reached into the battery on a 880 David Brown. If he had removed the ground it would not have happened. Wrench between ring and battery post. Melted the ring and burned finger to bone. All I saw was him backing out quick and flailing his hand. His wife looked for that ring for days. All I could tell her was I saw it go that way, maybe 100'....James
