battery cable

Can anyone tell me where the ground cable is connected from the factory on a 1970 3020D,is it on the trans cover bolt?

Positive ground system.
Positive cable to side post on starter.
Negative cable to solenoid post.
Fuseable link from floor mount bracket to positive end of the cross over cable to split system for lights, etc.

No its 12v neg ground, just not sure where the ground is att, Have had this tractor apart for 3 years,have all the manuals,it just does not show where the ground atts to. note 69 thru 72 are all 12v neg ground.

Originally was on one of the bolts on trans cover. Have seen poor connections on many there due to tin cover. I always use one of the bolts on the rockshaft housing which gives a more dependable ground.

They were originally grounded on the side of the transmission, on one of bolts that held a brake line support.

Sorry for the misinformation. I didn't read your post close enough to to notice the year.

I put the chassis return/ground under the same fastener that holds the starter on.

Thanks for the replys,after three years the 3020 is starting to look like a tractor again,lots of work and $$ restoring ng tractors,will post some pix soon.
