Battery cables

Both of my tractors need new cables. I have read here about making your own. Where do you get the wire and the end pieces? Is it better or cheaper than buying them already made?
Thanks, Gary in Utah

I have the local auto parts store make ours. I normally have them made of 00 welding cable & crimped on ends. Using the ends that you snug on with a couple bolts is a waste of money IMO

If you have a welding supply place close by they can make them. Also most auto part stores will have what you need or be able to get the stuff. Just remember if your tractor is still 6 volts you want 0 or 00 cables

Here is where I buy my supplies on eBay. They are solder connectors. This guy sells the wire, the terminals, and the pre-fluxed solder plugs. Quick ship, and excellent quality products. In a VERY short time, with medium effort and patience, I made top quality, custom cables. You would be hard pressed to show me a better commercial one. No crimp required.

No, I don't work for them and no, I don't get sales kickbacks.........just offering what I think is an excellent seller and products.

You can get 1ga lots of places already made and ready to use. Welding cable is not the best for battery cables they have the cable used for starters it has larger wires and will carry the starting current better than welding cable. Welding cable doesent large wires thus doesent have the same starting capacity as the cable made for starters.
