Battery cover installation

I bought the pretty red reproduction 8n-5126 battery cover and hardware.

How do you get the cover in place??
(I now know why farmers ditched them)

Does it go in from left with battery in place in tray, from left with battery, in from top gas tank/tool box access?

Not smarter than a battery cover,
Thanks, Clem

The battery needs to be the original size (or close to it). But I put it in with the battery in place, from the top, putting the side in next to the gas tank first. I added some electrical tape near the negative post (assuming it's still a 6 volt positive ground, the one going to the starter) so there isn't any arcing when putting the cover on. It's definitely a tight fit.

Thanks, I"ll try again.

6 volt positive ground, NAPA 6 volt battery.

Does the cover hinge go front or rear?

Could be my round big gauge positive ground cable interfering. Were they originally flat braided ground cable like on my Model A?

The reason they got tossed is that they won't fit unless you have the correct cables. When the cables needed to be replaced, it was easier to get them at the local auto parts store & just toss the cover.

Hinge goes to the front.

You must use the strap. And orient the cable ends correctly.
