Battery for 3400 ford

BCI group 4DLT batteries aren't cheap. Tractor Supply probably has them as cheap as anyone; theirs and NAPA's are both 850 CCA. The battery New Holland sells is 1000 CCA and more expensive at around $180 exchange, but to be honest, 850 CCA is probably enough to roll over a 3400.

I will not buy another 4dlt battery.
The last one I bought was about $130 from Fleet Farm.
It lasted about 1 1/2 years and lost a cell.
I had saved the reciept so I brought it back to the store I bought it from.
No dice. It is for an industrial application so is only pro rated for ONE YEAR!
Grrr.
Others here can give you the group size for a car battery. It has to be low to clear the battery posts under the hood.
Go that way.

A group 65 battery (think Powerstroke) will fit and work. Nowhere the reserve capacity of a 4DLT, I wouldn't go that route in Maine without a functioning block heater.

I put in a group 65 over 4 years ago. It was $92 then. It still cranks the 3000 diesel over in sub-zero weather.

I could barely lift the 4DLT, physically or financially.

Been using the 4DLT batteries from Ford/New Holland for many years, and they typically last 5 - 7 years for me, in 3910, 5000, & 5610s! Not cheap, but work for me!

Just found 1000 CCA at Advance auto. $171.99 less online discount of $40. Will pick one up tommorrow. Thanks for all the HELP.

When did NH up the rating as the Exide always used to be 800 CCA on the 4DLT? Did they change suppliers?

Rod

Exide still supplies batteries to CNH. I'm gonna say the F150 has been 1000 CCA's for at least 18 months.
