Battery Golf Carts

I am planning on buying a golf cart gas or electric. For those of you that have a battery golf cart, where do you charge them for a 3 day show. Do the motel owners allow you to run an extension cord the door?

I will never own an electric one.
My Dad had one and was always trouble.
I have a gas one that is great.
Quiet and reliable.
This is it when I bought it years ago used.

I had a Electric golf cart. It would run as long at Rantoul as you can. But I have a tailgator genny and used that. They were on sale at Harber Freight $130. My brother in law got 3.

Motel owners frown Im sure if you ran a cord out the door.........Ive been here for 5 shows and things are spread so far and wide I doubt an elec cart would last all 3 days (one or 2 days you might) UNLESS you limited your drive times which is hard to do at this show if you want to see it all !!!!!!!!!! Where we are dry camped it like 1.5 miles to get to the show and the corn and bean fields may be another 2 miles apart and theres food row to drive to when hungry LOTS OF MILES driving

They make auto generators that invert your battery/alternator power to 120 VAC to plug in a cart charger but they can require long run times subject to battery SOC.........Orrrrrrrrr use your own big enough rated Inverter connected to your engine battery while running the engine.....

The later model 48 Volt cars give you more run time........NOW if you had a 48 volt car equipped with lithium batteries you have lots more run time

BOTTOM LINE its pretty well a gas golf car show if you need to get around a lot.. WE have been driving My gas cart to town every day to VFW, Circle K, and a restaurant maybe 5 to 8 miles per day AND THE SHOW HASNT EVEN STARTED YET.....One buddy has an elec cart he plugs into his sons portable generator....

SURE if you limit your drives you could get by 3 days and/or walk a lot of miles

Theres no free energy lunch here

. Maybe possible if the lead acids were swapped out for lithium batteries .
Hold more power , weigh less and lowers the centre of gravity .

I've had one of each, and bad luck with both.

The electric cart was a never ending nightmare of corrosion and bad battery connections. I don't care how much water and baking soda you flushed it with, it would corrode up again literally overnight. We put all new batteries and all new cables in and that lasted 3 months before things started rotting off again.

The gas cart is a never ending circus of chasing fuel problems around and around. I want to get rid of it but now all of a sudden it doesn't want to pump fuel anymore and won't run AGAIN. Neither the brand new nor the original fuel pump wants to work now. I have well over $2000 in it, and it's easily worth $2000 but I can't get anyone to give me more than $500 for it non-running. If it would just run reliably for a few days, it would be gone.

What is this gas cart????

I was sort of looking for a newer cart to replace my old 1993 but would prefer to stay with Yamaha.

Just sold a 36v EZGO that we had for 12 years. Mostly trouble free. We put two sets of batteries in it. One when we purchased it and another about 6 years later. Battery life is helped with frequent charging, distilled water, and clean terminals. I upgraded the controller to 450 amps and never had a problem with power. Batteries are quite expensive now so rather than replace them again we sold it and went with a gas powered Gator. I really like it. It just sips at the gas tank.

What is this gas cart????

It's a 1996 Club Car Carryall I. And it's possessed. I've fixed it countless times now, and as soon as I get one thing fixed and get it running, something else goes wrong. I just put a $180 carburetor on it because I could not figure out where the OEM carb was "dirty" and the aftermarket carb's needle inexplicably sticks open and floods the engine.

Some here are probably very familiar with it as I have asked for advice on multiple occasions.

Around here everyone likes Yamaha & EZ-GO.

Now I know why no one recommends the Club Car.....
Actually, Club Car is known for more of a high end car than the others. They'll all have issues eventually.

Good to know......I asked around several tractor shows and not many spoke well of club car.

I have had very good service from the old yamasaki tho....

I got a battery golf for my wife when her heart started giving her problems. I put a new set of batteries in it years ago. It still goes like it did when it was first brought here. Now that she is gone, I'm going to sell it.

My parents had a gas club car, lived on a golf course it was driven daily, never had any issues with it. Sold it after about 20 years of use. I think that my Mom got $4k for it when sold. Depending on the motel probably depends on charging it or not allowing it. good luck with whatever you decide.
