Battery group for 1948 8N

I have found that a group 35 or group 22 battery is appropriate for my tractor. Is a group 22 battery a lawn and garden battery in
size? Thanks for the help.

6v or 12v?

The original 6V battery is Group Size 1 - 9-1/8 (L) x 7-1/8 (W) x 9-3/8 (H).


12V Group 25 & Group 35 batteries are just slightly smaller at 9-1/16 x
6-7/8 x 8-7/8.

My 9n has a good size battery box. It's converted to 12 volts. I also have a 1995 1500 GMC pickup with a 350 engine. I do not drive regularly. When the battery won't stay up. I put it in the 9n. No computer to drain the battery. I often get three more years out of the battery.

My 9n uses the same battery as a 1995 GM pickup.

On my 1951 8N with 12v I used a group 25 battery, fits perfect.
