Battery post leaking acid

The positive battery terminal on my Toro lawn mower has started to leak acid which messes up the terminal and this causes a weak electrical connection. Instead of having to clean the post all the time, is there any way I can seal it ? - the battery shop I bought it from has gone out of business

A new battery is cheaper than having the old battery leak corrosive acid on your tractor.
A "good" looking battery can explode spraying acid onto you and your tractor. A battery with an obvious fault? I wouldn't risk acid in the face and burst ear drums.

its hard to get those clean enough to have glue bond to it and a loose terminal could cause a battery to blow up

Clean around the post with water only and allow to dry. I have patched battery cases with red silicon gasket sealer. Acid doesn't react with silicon. Make sure your battery is properly tied down.
