battery powered grease guns

Need to pick your knowledge on what's the best cordless grease gun you fellows use. Hand pumping getting to be a chore with arthristis in my hands. Looking for easier way to keep everything greased.

hands down the best is the lincolns, I had a 14.4 volt one that was 2 years old with no trouble at all, it had 2 speeds and always ran it in low range, just keep in mind that there will be times when a hand pump one will be better for dealing with plugged or fittings that take grease slow. Also in the winter keep the gun and grease someplace warm !! it will take alot of strain off of the motor and batteries.

I'll second the Lincoln. I've had mine for 8 years now.

I'm happy with how it works personally.. I bought it because the equipment I frequently run at work has nearly 100 fittings that need to be greased every 2-3 days.. Turned the job from taking what seemed like hours to about 15 minutes.

As for durability, it's been dropped, dragged, bounced around in the pickup toolbox, left in the rain more than once, and still works great. I have noticed one crack in the plastic near the trigger though, and I have ordered the new part to replace it, but decided I'm not changing it till it breaks worse (been cracked for almost 3 years now). The part was about 10 bucks.. which I also found quite reasonable.

I have, however, replaced one battery (sure the other is not far behind) and had to buy a charger last year, as it seemed to stop putting out power.

Oh, mine is a 12 volt.. But now that I expressed my satisfaction with it, it'll probably conk out next time I use it LOL.. But I guarantee I'd run out to buy another.

My neighbor has had a 12 volt Lincoln for several years with no problem. I don't know who made them but I bought a John Deere version a couple years ago when they were on sale. So far it works fine.

Like Brad I got the Lincoln. works well. Like Brad's mine got abused, run over by the dump truck once, cracked a part but it still works.Like Brad's mine is now 6 years old and a battery has gone out.

I have had a Lincoln for several years now with no problems. I bought the kit with two batteries and it has always worked as it should. They are really handy.

I bought a air powered one years ago.Used it a couple times and threw it under the bench never to be used again. I hated it. You cannot tell if grease is going in the zerk or not. I would think battery would be the same. Only way to tell is if you over grease to the point grease is squeezing out the sides and if it comes out the inside you can't tell until a glob falls on the floor. Many times I only want to give it one squirt and with a manual you can tell it went in.

Some years ago I went to a parts place to get a hand pump grease gun to grease the steering rods on the car. They tried to sell me a pneumatic gun; told them that I only had 2 zerks to grease.

Neither of the vehicles that I drive now have grease zerks anywhere, so I don't need any type of grease gun now.

Lincoln and Alemite both seem really popular.

I have a couple from Harbor Freight 12V and 18V
Their decent guns for the money, Have used them for years on our early 750 JD drills that have near 100 zerks to grease. The 12V HF gun has nearly doubled in price to $100 in the last 6 years and they stopped selling the 18V, although I have seen the same 18v unit sold through local farm stores for $150 with two batteries.
The 18V greases about twice as fast as the 12V.
a full greasing takes 5 tubes of grease, I would hate to pump that much with a manual pistol grip gun. ;-)

I have an air powered one. Not recommended. Doesn't produce enough pressure to force grease in tight fittings.

i have a 14.4 volt lincoln got it for my dad to use as his hands arent what they use to be. i really like the gun but the battery packs fell apart(the plasic case) on day one. called the service center they said rough handling during packing shipping, told me to keep what i had and suggested gluing to fix them, and sent two new ones no charge. i picked up some good glue and fixed the old packs as no wires etc. were damaged now ive got four batterys. so in short im very pleased with the gun and the customer service.

If you have the option of air i would go that route,have had air unit since 2000 and still going strong, it gets used almost daily as i assemble new equipment in my shop. as far as what was mentioned about not having enough preasure not that NOt a problem with mine and you can till if it is greasing by the sound and feel of it. Buddy has a battery unit and like all of those types of stuff you better have 2 extra batteries to get the project done some times .

We have the lincoln battery operated at work. We have been using them for about 2 yrs now with alot of usage and we haven't had any problems so far.
