Battery question

Round blue label with 5/? is build date.
I understand what you are saying : )... Stickers are a dime a dozen the true production code is stamped on the battery somewhere. I always use a paint stick, its marked when put on the shelf and marked when its installed. Battery rotation is up to the team of suppliers and the final designation. Its not followed up much anymore.

Yep. 5/24. I had to pull a couple 1/24's off of the shelf to get the 5/24 out of the back at walmart. They say they go by the receipt anyway assuming you still have it. Sam's has a middle corridor in their battery racks for restocking. I could just walk in their and pull a newer one out. Paint stick marking is what I need for the vehicles.

Just because company X manufactures several brands of batteries . The batteries maybe built to spec for each retailer .
I agree. But batteries are a series of plates inside a case. The cases of various sizes are will only hold enough plates of a particular size to fit that case. So smaller batteries will have less cranking amps and less storage capacity. Hence the series 31 with it's large size case probably has more plates with more cca and storage capacity according to its weight as well. It just begs the question as to how a battery of the same size (65) for the same retailer can be made so one only puts out 650 cca, one at 750 cca, and another one at 850 cca? That makes a factory production run and the factory inventory kind of difficult if the same size battery case may have differing number of plates or sizes of plates to match the specified cca. Or does Deka and Super Start have their own number of plates and plate size. Just saying they might more likely all be the same with different labels.

The length of the plates down into the electrolyte can be different. so can the thickness of the plates and separators. Just like a half full cereal box. Jim

Now I know the price, where to purchase?
I must be using wrong search terms.

That makes sense. Was in Walmart this evening and about all of the batteries were made in South Korea by East Penn. The H8 didn't really say where but it was an East Penn. The little mower batteries were East Penn but said made in Vietnam.

Napa or Interstate batteries here.
Not doing that wm thing, they smoked my Mom's radio in her newer Ford car by not keeping constant volts, when changed out the battery.
Nope not their fault they told her and Dad.

I hear you. After seeing wm batteries made in other countries then that brings up all the issues with quality of materials and workmanship and what manufacturing short cuts are being made.

Install the highest CCA battery that will fit into the battery compartment . Not saving anything with a cheaper battery .
Bought two top of the line Group 24's for my IH 1586. They were dead in 3 months and exploded from freezing. No warranty. $200+ flushed down the toilet.

Wasn't going to do that again. Put two $50 Walmart Specials in when they were still $50. Still running strong since 2018.
