Battery time!

Went to use the 5105 yesterday and the battery was dead, wouldn’t even boost off. Battery was seven years old, didn’t seem like it had been that long. The battery in the 3005 has been turning over slow all summer and was purchased only two weeks after the big tractor’s battery so I bought one for it too. $ ouch! $ just shy of $350 for the two.

Hydrogen peroxide. My average battery life went from 5/6 to 10/12 years.

These are same age, two years old in the 880 Oliver Diesel.
Same as your ordeal. They can be boosted to start , but don't hold up.
We've had a slee of batteries this year, I guess that means trouble will find us, the same time again down the road, comes time to change out, not economical anymore, that's for sure. GG

That's not bad for two? Auto parts store took me for $260 for one

Battery's are never cheap. Owning alot of different farm equipment besides cars and trucks I have found out you need to make sure your charging system is 100% or your battery's will not hold up. Do not put new battery's in until your charging system is checked out.

I suggest a solar charger, hooked every time you shutdown .
I thought I'd hook all my batteries to separate trickle chargers and leave them on 24/7. Even on sealed batteries, I found that over time it will boil the water out. So I quit that and started checking the charge per a charge chart and when one needed to get back up on the scale, I'd put the trickle on it till it was back at the top.....no more battery problems.

Reading the posts about battery prices brought back a memory I had as a curious youngster in the days before the 12V battery. Dad was very frugal and it seemed we were always hand cranking or pull starting tractors and vehicles. One day the guy from the local parts store stopped in and talked dad into buying some new batteries. Dad ordered several 6V for $8 each. Sometimes I remember the strangest things!!!

Now what would be the difference between a solar battery maintaner and a solar battery charger? Looking to purchase one of them..

Update: I had to buy a new battery for my Bayou 250 last week @ $107, got six years out of the old one. AGM batteries seem to last longer in my atv and Sportster
