I guess that I'm really lucky - Where I live, there are no battery weeds.
I have a Ryobi (made in Arizona) 2-stroke string trimmer with a geared head and long shaft (I'm 6'4:") and it's been a very capable and reliable piece. For the heavier work, I have a DR trimmer-mower (5HP Briggs) with the steel cable option. I loaned it to a relative who started taking the bottom off a dog-eared fence before he realized it. It's almost like a walkie brush hog.
